When you close one chapter in your life, you start a new one.....................................................So, when I retired from public education, I wanted to help the economy of my rural Ohio community; and at the same time, help women meet the demands of work & family life (two causes near and dear to my heart). I prayed for guidance and vision. I began thinking: if I could provide beneficial products and meaningful work (women doing something they enjoyed), I could do both. I enjoy sewing and creating innovative ideas. As I pondered, I began to sense a calling, of sorts. I felt called to create a line of purses and bags that could be customized by the consumer, yet provide great benefits for the women who carried them.
We are a startup company, with the office in my home basement. FedEx delivers to us.
Our bags help organize lives & ease physical stress due to a unique design. All of our bags are reversible and have interchangeable parts. The materials we use are recycled, helping the environment. For example, recycled leather - made from shoes that escaped the landfill; and, our suede is made from recycled polyester fibers. All of our materials are animal-friendly, promoting compassion for animals.
Our seamstresses are located in Ohio factories, promoting jobs for Americans, especially our family, friends and neighbors in Ohio. Materials are purchased in the USA, also keeping jobs in America. Many of our sewers work from home, which helps them juggle work and family responsibilities. This helps women meet the stressful demands of both work and family, without giving up their income.
With 2 sides of the business, Gro2 Bags has 2 avenues for income, 2 types of production and 2 price-points for buying our 2-sided, reversible bags. One side of the business Mass Produces orders at a local sewing factory. These orders are sold at boutiques and gift shops. The second side of the business is the Mass Customization of internet orders that are sold via an interactive website. These orders are customized by local sewers who create them in their individual homes.
We are excited to introduce this new line of bags. We have been working hard to build our business with the highest of values in the areas that we believe in, promoting what we love.............America, working women, families, animals, the earth, and our rural Ohio community. We plan to begin operations in January, 2013.
